Voltiris and IsoSpec Analytics get support from FIT

The Foundation for Technological Innovation (FIT) is happy to announce two new loans to Voltiris and IsoSpec Analytics. Voltiris, pioneering the development of innovative photovoltaic solutions for greenhouses, benefits from a Tech Growth loan of CHF 500’000, while IsoSpec Analytics, specializing in advanced biomolecular analysis, receives a Tech Seed loan of CHF 100’000.

Voltiris transforms greenhouses into renewable powerplants
In response to the growing demand for food and renewable energy, Voltiris has developed a new generation of colour optimized photovoltaic panels to maximise sunlight both for growing crops and producing renewable energy. Voltiris’ photovoltaic modules reduce greenhouses’ dependence on gas and electricity grid and shrink CO2 emissions, without reducing crop yield. Indeed, using spectral filtering technology, Voltiris’ solution lets through the light components needed by the plants, while the rest is reflected and focused onto the photovoltaic module.

The cleantech company already installed 400 modules in 12 different projects over 5 countries and plans on using the CHF 500’000 Tech Growth loan from FIT to further industrialize its solution and roll out its commercialisation plan with flagships projects in Switzerland and the Netherlands.

If installed on all the greenhouses in Switzerland, this technology has the potential to save the equivalent CO2 emissions of 18,000 households!

IsoSpec Analytics simplifies biomolecular analysis
This EPFL spin-off develops disruptive analytical technologies to generate next-level molecular intelligence, accelerating the development of nutritional supplements, crop protection products and pharmaceuticals. This technology also enables biomarker discovery for early disease diagnostics. In fact, IsoSpec Analytics brings the power of infrared spectroscopy directly inside mass spectrometers, thereby changing the way molecular structure is determined.

With the CHF 100’000 Tech Seed loan from FIT, IsoSpec Analytics will pursue product development and increase its analytical capacity by automating data acquisition and treatment, and optimizing sample preparation steps.
